It's not like the PKing that is traditional in most RPG's where whoever has the most people on their side inevitably wins.
In guild wars, you can go to one of the many (and very much differing) arenas, form a team, and enter into the mission. Try using the search button for this forum, I think someone already asked this and was answered fairly well. The instances of PvP are as follows: Tombs: Hardest Arena. It's a pick up tournament. Fight through several tiers and see if you can claim the top level! The Hall of Heroes. Holding the Hall of Heroes opens up exclusive special missions for your home world (Ameria, Europe, Korea... can change only 5 times). If you are on top of the Tombs and holding the Hall of Heroes, it means you are the BEST in the world because the servers are seemless. Parties consist of 8 players. It can be anything from 8v8 to 8v8v8v8v8v8. King of the Hill, Capture the Relic, or just kill the other team types of playing. Each tier of the tournament differs from the others. Random Arenas... There are several of these: The Crag, Fort Ranik, D'Allessio Arena, Iron Horse Arena, and Ascalon Arena. Go to the outpost of these missions, click "Enter Mission" and you are set up in a random team of 6 players against 6 other randoms. Guild versus Guild: Form a party of 8 people from your guild and challenge an opponent guild (or just hit random). You are then immersed in a battle. The objective is to kill the enemy's Guild Lord. When you do this, you win. Easier said than done, of course. There are 7 guild halls. If you are the home team, you play at yours. If you are the away team, you play at theirs. Otherwise the difference between home and away (or actually, offense and defense), is nothing. Last edited by Weezer_Blue; Apr 22, 2005 at 11:21 PM // 23:21.. Reason: Adding more info |

edited to be more informative
EDIT of edit notifaction thread... oh, by the way, you should know that all PvP, missions, and Explorable Areas in Guild Wars are "instanced". This means that when you enter a mission or tournament or whatever, you see your party, your enemies, and your own special copy of the world and nothing else. This makes missions more fun because it eliminates spawn-campers, griefers, and kill-stealers. It also allows Arena.Net to do whatever the hell they want to you during your missions. If they didn't do this, then someone doing the same quest would come up behind you when you completed it and go "hey! why is it raining fire on me even though I haven't done anything yet?!"
